WHY SHOULD ONE GIFT TO THE CHRIST’S LUTHERAN CHURCH ENDOWMENT FUND? Last month we CELEBRATED THE PAST and reviewed the history of the Christ’s Lutheran Church Endowment and Memorial Funds, and the many gifts and benefits made possible by members and friends of our congregation. (If you haven’t had a chance to read it, you can find it in the March issue of The Link or in the Endowment section of our website: www.christsoreland.org.). As we have learned, present and future members of our congregation will benefit as they worship and carry out the mission of the church because of the gifts to the Endowment and Memorial Fund. In this communication we intend to discuss some of the reasons WHY a person would consider making a gift to Christ’s Lutheran’s Endowment Fund. IT’S NATURAL FOR US, AS CHRISTIANS, TO GIVE.
The bible supports the idea of giving and our gifts would be an expression of God’s Grace and a natural extension of the Sprit of Christian giving. WE HAVE OUR OWN SPECIFIC REASONS TO MAKE A GIFT. Each of us probably has our own specific, special reason that would move us to make a gift to Christ’s Lutheran’s Endowment Fund. The church has been the foundation and a constant in our lives. Whether it was the church of our youth, or a congregation in another city or state, the church has served as a foundation and a constant in our lives and during times of trial, both small and large. It has served to heal and nourish the spirit. Christ’s Lutheran Church has been a place of comfort, healing, and sanctuary for many of us at various points in our lives. Whatever your personal reasons, a gift to the endowment fund would be a meaningful and significant way to sustain the church for current and future generations. These gifts will enable many of the services and programs that were such a comfort and benefit to each of us during various periods of our lives and our involvement with Christ’s Lutheran to continue into the future. HOW CAN MY GIFT MAKE A DIFFERENCE? Your single gift to the CLC endowment fund can have a significant impact on one or more programs or services, thus furthering the mission of Christ’s Lutheran Church. A gift to the Christ’s Lutheran’s Endowment Fund can help support the long-term ministries of the church during and beyond one’s lifetime. This can be your legacy to CLC. The reason your contribution can have such a large impact is because it will be combined with the other gifts in the Endowment Fund. (Remember, the principal from the Endowment Fund remains in place and only the income earned from investments is used.) Therefore, the contributions to the principal will GROW in the Endowment Fund and yield a larger investment return. This idea is even illustrated in 2 Corinthians 9:10. “Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food, will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness.” Gifts to Christ’s Lutheran’s Endowment Fund are a natural expression of our own Christianity and another way to help sustain the mission and ministries of Christ’s Lutheran Church for current and future generations of worshipers. “Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7) _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ If this article generates questions you would like to have answered, please complete the response form below and return it to the church office, or contact any member of the Endowment Task Force and we will communicate answers in an appropriate way. “GIFTS & BEQUESTS TO THE ENDOWMENT FUND” RESPONSE FORM Questions you would like to have answered?
