The Call Committee (see link for members) had an initial meeting with synod representatives on June 18, and has begun a series of meetings to prepare for the reception of prospective candidate dossiers from the synod. How long does it take until a new pastor is under call after this stage in the process? Usually at least six months; but if the first round of suggested candidates does not yield an acceptable candidate, the process can be extended a good bit. It is a difficult dance of scheduling meetings of synod deans and staff, six Call Committee members, and pastoral candidates. Eventually, the Call Committee will recommend a single candidate to the Council for review and interview, and, if Council concurs with the choice, that candidate will be presented to the congregation at Sunday worship with an election to follow the service or services. We will keep you as up to date as possible. William Shafer, Interim Senior Pastor
